At Kcal Fitness you can get started simply by booking a free assessment and planning session. The purpose of the session is twofold. First, we want to learn enough about you to create a suitable program. At the same time though, we also want you to learn enough about us to decide if we’re the right fit for you.

What to expect

There are 5-steps in our assessment and planning process, and none of them involves a sales pitch. When you arrive at the gym it all begins with a tour and a conversation about what you want to achieve. The rest of the appointment is for us to learn what we need to know about you and answer all your questions.

1. Getting to Know You

After a brief tour of the gym we’ll sit down to discuss what you want to achieve and how you’d like us to help in detail. Once we understand where you’re coming from, we’ll tell you about our background and overall approach. Then we’ll explain how our expertise relates to what you want to accomplish, and what we can do to help you.

2. Background & History

Next we’ll ask you a lot of questions about your health, eating habits and any current or previous injuries. We’ll also dive into your experience with exercise and past attempts to achieve your goals. Then we’ll ask about your lifestyle, weekly schedule and how much time and energy you can spare for a program. All of this will help us understand what’s reasonable for us to ask from you on an ongoing basis, so that the program we come up with isn’t overwhelming.

3. The Assessment

Once we understand your history and a bit about your life, we’ll move on to a simple movement and fitness assessment. The purpose of which, is to see how well you handle some basic movements that are important in life as well as in exercise. The results will tell us a lot about your current abilities, strengths and weaknesses. Then we’ll sit back down and discuss our findings with you, and what that means in terms of an appropriate exercise program.

4. Program Development

Using all the information we’ve gathered we’ll then outline an approach and overall design for your personalized program right there in our office. That way you can understand our thinking, and how what we’re proposing to do to help you reach your goals. We’ll also talk about realistic timelines and give you an accurate idea of how much time and work you’ll have to put in to reach them.

5. Question & Answer

We don’t want anyone to get started with us unless they are making an informed choice that they’re comfortable with. So, we’ll make sure to answer all of your questions throughout the appointment, and leave time at the end for more. Once you’re satisfied that you have all the information you need, you can decide together whether you want to move forward. We don’t believe Kcal Fitness is a good fit for someone that needs to be sold on the idea, so we prefer to let people make up their own minds. There will never be any pressure to buy anything, and we don’t want any large upfront commitments.
