On Tuesday November 3, 2020 the Ontario Provincial Government released a new document entitled COVID-19 Response Framework: Keeping Ontario Safe and Open. This document details a new graduated approach to implementing COVID-19 restrictions and safety measures throughout Ontario that takes effect at 12:01am Saturday November 7, 2020.
This new system recognizes we must be able to protect people, while still making it possible for the greatest number of businesses to remain open and functioning. It is in my opinion, a long overdue recognition of the fact that COVID-19 is not going away any time soon, we are not going to be able to eradicate it without a vaccine, and we must therefore find a way to live and function with it.
The moment I became aware of this document I reviewed it thoroughly and compared it to the existing COVID-19 safety plan and procedures we have put in place at Kcal Fitness, and I’m happy to say we are already in full compliance with the measures required for the current classification that applies for the Region of Waterloo at the time of writing (Green/Prevent).
In addition we are, and have been since we reopened in August of 2020, in full compliance with all but two of the measures that would be required even if Waterloo Region were moved to highest classification (Red/Control) that remains before returning to a full lockdown. This places us in an excellent position to react quickly and adjust our plan to comply should the need arise.
We are extremely pleased that our Provincial Government has finally put measures in place that recognize facilities like ours are safe places and can continue to operate in a safe and responsible manner, while providing valuable services to the community.
We remain dedicated to providing professional training and nutrition services while keeping our members safe.
